Crazy weekend
I have deliberatly left it a day or two before writing to thank you , as i just wanted to leave a little time for the dust to settle and the memories to crystalise.
We can not thank you enough for being perfect tour hosts:
The rugby was excellent, it's always good to win, but it was fun and competitive and played in a great spirit. I dont think i have ever enjoyed myself more on a rugby pitch than i did on Saturday afternoon.
The food was great well thought out and executed.
Most importantly the 2 day long third half and the company was excellent. The efforts of so many of your guys and girls to join in and stay with us on both nights late into the night,or even early into the morning was above and beyond the call of duty.
The hotel worked out really well so thanks also for your help there.
The circumstances before the tour made it difficult for many of us, and indeed you saw much naked emotion on display over the weekend. I admire the way that you all helped us through it in so many different ways , singing our hymn with us on Sunday, and Gercos perfect reply are a memory that will stay with me for a long time.
The pictures that are appearing on facebook from both sides are brilliant and help to keep the thing fresh in the mind.
We thought we knew how to party, but your club are every bit as good if not better.
I didn't know about Hans' chair until we got within an hour of Scunthorpe, we will keep it safe until you come to collect it.
The end of our rugby careers is near for many of the Rifles, thats one of the reasons why we were so pleased to have so many of the next generation with us to continue the tradition of touring and to learn about our relatationship with Wageningen.
I stopped organising tours to give some of the others chance to do so, but as soon as i heard about you anniversary tournament it just knew we had to be there.
So thanks again, we really do appreciate it.
